World Cup Shenanigans

So, FIFA banned South Africa from playing during Apartheid, but the f-ing North Korean's are welcomed. Jeezus.

In other news, the Germans have made a positively awesome start, and I wish them good luck. :) Though I won't go so far as to predict anything beyond a top four finish. :P

Bizarre Moments in History #1

The Battle of the Boyne

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_the_Boyne

A particularly absurd creation of European dynastic struggles, the battle of the Boyne was fought in Ireland in 1690, amidst the turmoil of Catholic and Protestant interests battling in the British Isles. It saw the Dutch king William of Orange leading the English army (composed mostly of Dutch, French Huguenot, and Danish troops) with the blessing of the Pope defeat the English king James leading French royalist troops and hordes of Irish Catholic peasants with the support of France...

Reliably, the Dutch and Danish troops performed admirably, and the Irish peasants armed with low quality muskets generally deserted the utterly incompetent though King James, thus cementing the success of glorious revolution and ending Catholic hopes for domination of Britain and Scot/Irish hopes for independence from the English.

All in all, this qualifies for a B+ in terms of absurdity. 

Who is AnarchoKitten?

Warning: This ferocious feline may not submissively conform to your stereotypes about Cats, adolescents, and anarchists. Please take this into consideration before revealing your laughable ignorance. 

AnarchoKitten does not believe we should all live in total chaos, though that would make world domination by the felidae family more likely.
Rather, AK is simply suspicious of the coercive nature of the state and all of it’s various lackey’s and co-rivals. (corporations, religious institutions, etc. etc.) AK particularly singles out a quite powerful one somewhere to the south of it. AK thinks that while the patriarchal and xenophobic nature of this military industrial complex and it’s domestic equivalents may make life superficially good for AnarchoKitten, they are rather bad things for the freedom and good conscious of all Cat’s and humans and in the western world, and rather terrible things for all of the multicoloured people around the rest of the globe.
Unfortunately, the state is winning most battles, and its opposition is divided by culture, misinformation, and apathy. That being said, AK is content to rant, rave, muse and debate about this subject, and other unrelated subjects that AnarchoKitten finds to be rant-worthy.
